Happy New Year Moms!

Is it just me, or is January feel like the ‘Monday’ of the year?  I’m nursing my holiday cookie hangover, wishing I didn’t have to get out of bed, and making myself a bunch of promises – like I will never eat a whole roll of cookie dough ever again…(knowing I absolutely will).

I’m sure many of us share some resolutions for 2018.  Whether it’s a cleaner house, a healthier diet, a perkier butt, less screen time, connecting with old friends or even making some new friends – I wish you all luck and perseverance.  I have found it is easier to pick a new resolution for each month.  Four weeks is a much more realistic goal than 52.  So if a year seems like a long time to commit to a change, just start with January.

Speaking of big changes, the ladies on the MSMAC board are happy to announce some exciting changes for 2018.  We’ve welcomed some wonderful mothers to the board who will be filling some big roles! In addition to new members, some existing members have shifted and will be taking some new responsibilities!

Here is a breakdown of the exciting changes the MSMAC board has voted on to take place in 2018:

-NEW E-MAIL LOOP! You should have received an e-mail from VP Amanda M. explaining this switch from yahoo to google.  You simply need to accept the invitation (sent to your email) and send any future e-mails to *redacted by web admin*  (It’s okay if you forget – we have a safeguard and your e-mail will still be sent to all!)  This is exciting because now we are using one platform and there is potential for using other google functions in the future!

-NEW BOARD E-MAIL ADDRESS! Previously, each board member had an individual e-mail address.  Now, you can connect with the board via ONE address – board.msmac@gmail.com .  However, you can still reach us as individuals via our personal e-mail addresses found on the roster.

-NEW BOARD MEMBERS! We’d like to welcome 3 new members – Jen D., Brittany M., and Esther W. – to our MSMAC board with open arms!  We thank you for your willingness to be a part of the machine that keeps this group strong!

-NEW BOARD POSITION CREATED! We would like to introduce a new board position – the Outreach Coordinator, which will replace the New Member Coordinator.  Sara H. will be stepping down as the president to fill this role and the new MSMAC President, Morgan S. (formerly Cal. Coordinator), will absorb the New Member Coordinator position’s duties. The responsibilities of the Outreach Coordinator will put some more focus and resources to growing and connecting MSMAC through social media and other marketing strategies. The board will be outlining more details of this new position at the next board meeting!

-CURRENT BOARD MEMBERS AND POSITIONS-

-MORGAN S. – President – Morgan (mom to J.) has happily stepped into this role with some new and inspiring ideas! The president will now take on the duties of the New Member Coordinator, including hosting new member events and communicating with potential new members.
-AMANDA M. – Vice President – Amanda (mom to H.) has a history of working in fundraising, so it was a natural fit for her to take on the VP role in 2017.  She rocked the Sip N Shop in November and has some wonderful ideas for new fundraising events in the future!
-JEN D. – Secretary – Jen (mom to O.) generously stepped into this role on short notice and we’ve been ecstatic to get to know her and hear her fun and creative ideas.  Keep an eye out for her detailed board meeting minutes in your e-mail or on Google Drive to stay caught up!
-KATHY J. – Treasurer – Kathy (mom to C. and A.) is a veteran board member and continues to maintain the group’s finances.  She not only collects and deposits members’ dues, but she has great ideas on how to maximize our giving potential!
-BRITTANY M. – Calendar Coordinator – Brittany (mom to L.) joined the MSMAC board at the end of 2017 and we are thrilled to have her! She will be managing the group calendar and keeping track of events hosted.
-ESTHER W. – Philanthropy Coordinator – Esther (mom to W.) also delightfully joined us at the end of 2017.  She will be coordinating some wonderful ways MSMAC can help in our community this year.
-SARA H. – Outreach Coordinator – This is a new position on the MSMAC board.  Sara (mom to G. and G.) will be focusing on social media and marketing with the goal of creating stronger connections among our growing community.

-FAREWELLS! Many sincere thank you’s go out to the board members that stepped down in 2017 – Angela M., Natalie B., Beth F., Juls B., Lori H., Amber N..  The volunteer time and work that these ladies put into Moms Supporting Moms is invaluable and much appreciated!

If you have any feedback for the board, do not hesitate to reach out via e-mail (board.msmac@gmail.com), facebook, or coming to a board meeting! We are excited to hear ideas from you to help meet the needs of all of our members.  Our next board meeting is February 1 at 9:30 am *location redacted by web admin*.

Stay warm and sane, mamas! Spring is only 73 days away!

A NOTE FROM SARA –
As I leave my role as the MSMAC board president, I wanted to express my appreciation for the experience and support from all of you! When I agreed to take on this role, I was still new at navigating motherhood and my new un-career.  I wasn’t quite sure that I had much to offer to a group of seasoned moms, but it was a satisfying feeling doing purposeful work and I hoped I could reach at least one new mom, like me, that longed for a fun and supportive community. I have many special memories as the MSMAC President – one of which being the creating and planning for the Sip N Shops.  I love to see the results when a group of women gets their creative juices flowing and come up with new ideas.  I am excited to create and transition into the new role on the board as the Outreach Coordinator, where I can continue to use my creativity to bring moms together.  I am thrilled to pass the president torch to Morgan! Her motivation and positivity will keep that torch burning even brighter and I’m excited for MSMAC’s future!
