Happy Summer Moms!

After April showers seemed to lose track of time and turn into May and June showers, summer weather is finally upon us. School’s out, pools are open, and bedtimes are creeping back later and later. While our kids might be on summer break, for many of us summer is the busiest time of year, with 15+ hours of daylight to fill with vacations, summer camps, and way more popsicles than we’d like to admit (or is that just my house?). Still, the pace of summer does seem to be a bit slower, and bit more relaxed than the rest of the year. Perhaps DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince explain it best:

“Summer, summer, summertime

Time to sit back and unwind

Here is the groove slightly transformed

Just a bit of a break from the norm

Just a little somethin’ to break the monotony…”

The laid back mood of summer makes it a great time to reflect, plan, and try new things. The MSMAC board will be holding our budget meeting this month, which will allow us the opportunity to look back on this past year and start planning and setting goals for the year ahead, and we invite you to reflect on the future of MSMAC with us. Perhaps in combatting your own kids’ boredom this summer, you’ll come up with fantastic idea for a MSMAC playdate you can host, or you’ll attend one of our monthly potlucks or craft days and be inspired to start your own monthly event. Maybe summer hours mean you get to spend some time volunteering, and you’ll come across a great cause that you think MSMAC should get involved with, or you recruit all the moms at summer camp to join us (don’t forget our summer recruitment contest!).

No matter what your summer plans are, we hope that it involves MSMAC, and we hope that you all can help us as we use this summer to plan for the future. If you have a great idea, pass it on! Talk to any of the board members, or email  board.msmac@gmail.com. We hope to see you at some of the great MSMAC events coming up; pool day on June 25th, craft playdate on July 19th, and a potluck July 26th just to name a few.

Wishing you sunny days and kids that sit still long enough to apply sunscreen to,
