There’s something so magical about icicles hanging from trees and the blank slate feel of a freshly fallen blanket of snow. My 20 mo old seems entranced by it and I love experiencing this winter through the lens of his joy! We certainly have gotten a lot of these wintry moments the last few weeks in Adams County, and while I’ve enjoyed how the busyness of life gets paused for a little while, I am ready to get out of the house!
Maybe it’s the cabin fever, but I’ve been feeling especially thankful for my fellow MSMAC moms lately and I’ve been reminiscing about the last year and a half since joining in August 2016. We had moved to the Gettysburg area when I was nine months pregnant, and I didn’t know anyone. I knew there were other mothers around me, of course, I just didn’t know them, or how to meet them. Thanks to a google search, I stumbled on the MSMAC website, went to a New Member Potluck event and here we are!
Before joining, I was just hoping to increase the people I knew in Adams County to a number higher than 0, maybe give my child some social interaction, and maybe learn about a few interesting events in the area. While all of those expectations have been exceeded, I had no idea how greatly enriched the lives of my son and I would be in the process. I have made some of the best friends I’ve ever had, I have watched my son learn from and relish the company of other children he has met, and best of all, I feel consistently inspired and in awe of you all every day!
Thank you ladies for your smiles, for your advice and encouragement. Thank you for every Playdate, Walk, Coffee Hour, Card Swap, Mom’s Night, and Potluck. Thanks for sharing music classes and storytimes, and the stories of our lives before motherhood:). Seeing you makes our lives better. We love you!
