Now, more than ever, we need one another.

The world is a drastically different place than it was just a few short weeks ago. As mothers, we understand the importance of routine, for our children and ourselves, and now suddenly our day-to-day lives have been completely upended. Children are home from school, businesses are closed; so many things that once gave our days structure are simply not available to us anymore. Anxieties that may have never crossed our minds before now keep us up at night. Many of us are trying to transition to working from home, with our children home with us. We may be facing lost income, with no definitive end in sight. We may have loved ones whose presence in our life was once constant, now physically separated from us. And amidst all of this, we are trying to hold ourselves together for the sake of our families, especially our children, many of whom are too young to completely understand what is happening, or old enough that they understand more than we might like.

With so many things that once provided comfort and consistency gone, its gives me such hope to see the compassion and resilience of the women in this group. Women who are already stretched impossibly thin, taking the time to check in on one another, to share resources, and offer advice. Women who are currently facing insurmountable challenges in their own homes jumping right in to offer help to others. And women with the strength to admit that they are not ok right now, that they are struggling to juggle everything, to keep it together for their families. Sometimes the most comforting thing of all is knowing that you are not alone in your struggles.

I want to thank each any every one of you for living up to the name of our group during this time. MSMAC is going to be functioning differently for a while, and we appreciate your patience with us as we navigate these changes. No MSMAC in-person events are to be scheduled until further notice. The annual banquet will be postponed. We will be holding our board meetings for April and May virtually, with details on how to join these meetings to be sent out closer to the date.

We will be moving forward with our board election in April, though postponing it a bit in order to transition to online voting. Our April meeting will be held on Zoom on April 16th at 9:30 A.M.. Six of our board members have indicated that they would like to stay on the board, with a vacancy in the position of Secretary. Any MSMAC member may submit their name for any board position, and in cases where more than one party is interested, an election will occur. If you would like to submit your name for a board position, please email the board no later than this Wednesday, April 1st. More info on the board election will be sent out once nominations are closed.

Thank you to everyone in the group who has made this time feel a little less scary and a little less lonely. I really, really hope that I get to see all of you in person soon.

With love,

Amanda M.
