So I’m only 10 days late with this month’s president‘s message . . . but I think you’ll like it!  This month I’m sharing a poem that a high school classmate of mine, Lisa Brown, recently published on her blog: “Oh the Places You’ll Go . .. As a Mom!”  Enjoy!  Katie L.

Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re now a Mom!
You’re off and away! With a baby in your arms,
You won’t get the blues.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You’re on your own. And you know what you know.
And YOU are the one who will help your baby grow.

You’ve baby-proofed your home and looked it over with care.
Saying a bit too often, “Well, I don’t want that there!”
Up with your baby all night, soon you’ll be beat,
You’ll likely be hungry, but too tired to eat.

But that’s ok,
help will soon come around.
When family and friends will swoop in
they won’t see a frown.

They’ve all been there
and will give you special care.

Because babies can happen
and frequently do
to people as caring
and loving as you.

And when things start to happen,
don’t worry. Don’t stew.
Just go right along.
You’re a mother now too.

OH!
THE PLACES YOU’LL GO!

You’ll be cleaning spit-up!
You’ll get used to those sleepless nights!
You’ll join those other moms
who soar to high heights.

You’ll know exactly what your baby will need.
Be it a diaper, a nap, or maybe a feed.
As time flies by, so will the stress.
And that sweet baby smile will say you’re the best.

Except when it won’t.
Because, sometimes, it won’t.

I’m sorry to say so
but, sadly, it’s true
that toddlers
and tantrums
can happen to you.

But don’t get worried
your child is very smart.
And sometimes he just needs.
Some love from your heart.

Lead by example,
And hold his hand
and the effects of your love
you will see firsthand.

And will you succeed?
Yes! You will, indeed!
(98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed.)

MOM, YOU’LL MOVE MOUNTAINS!

So…
be your name Holly or Molly or Kay
or Mordecai Ali Van Allen O’Shea,
You’re off the Great Places!
Today is your day!
Motherhood is waiting.
So…get on your way!
