Happy (belated ) 2016!   I’m taking the easy way out, and sharing some resolutions for moms that I’ve found different places online. I don’t really like to make “new years resolutions”, but I do always like to do the best job I can at being my kids mom, so anytime I feel we need a change is a good time.  And of course January is as good of a time as any! I hope that one of your resolutions includes “attend more MSMAC events” because I’d love to see (or meet) every one of you this month!  and also, for that to happen I also need everyone to resolve to “host more events for my fabulous MSMAC friends”.  Watch your e-mails for this month’s craft & field trip playdates (hopefully tonight, or tomorrow if this mountain of laundry to fold takes me to long – LOL).

Yell Less

I know, you don’t yell at yours kids. No mom does, except when she’s yelling at her kids. No judgment here. It’s hard not to. Sometimes it feels like raising your voice is the only way to get your kid’s attention. But for all the obvious reasons, it’s terrible for kids and moms. So in 2014, try to cut it out. It’ll save you all that time spent with I-just-yelled-at-my-kid guilt.

Put Down That iPhone

Multitasking is a mom’s middle name, so it makes sense that we sometimes need to answer an email or respond to a text while the kids are around. But if you’re like me, you find yourself nearly addicted to checking what’s new on the phone. Sure that text is hilarious and that email is top priority, but you don’t really need to check them at every stoplight. Plus, what kid wants to feel like he or she has to compete for mom’s attention with her new gold iPhone?

Exercise 6 days per week. Yeah… Let’s be honest here; that ain’t gonna happen. So scratch that.

Have Some Kid-Like Fun

Kids get to run around, climb on things, scream to their hearts content, eat fried things and take a nap. Sounds fun, right? Well, why shouldn’t mom? Every now and then, let loose a little. And yes, you can have the fries.

Don’t Be So Hard on Yourself

Gosh, being a mom is hard. It’s a job that comes with no manual, education or training. So just like you want your kid to be less hard on herself, lead by example and give yourself a break. You’re doing the best you can.

Drink more water. Water is a vital resource and is so important to your overall physical health and well-being. Luckily, water is readily available in many forms. And Jesus turned water into wine. So, basically, I just need to drink more wine. DONE.
